Labor Standards Inspection Office (In-Person)

労働基準監督署(窓口持参)

Overview

Labor standards inspection offices (労働基準監督署) are regional branches of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, with 321 locations across Japan. They enforce the Labor Standards Act and handle workers' compensation insurance benefits and labor insurance premium collection. Your jurisdictional office is determined by your business location. You can find office locations organized by prefecture on the MHLW website. The annual labor insurance renewal (年度更新) — filing and paying estimated and finalized premiums — can be processed at the labor standards inspection office counter, as well as at the prefectural labor bureau or financial institutions.

How to use

• Search for your jurisdictional office on the MHLW website under 'Labor Standards Inspection Office Jurisdictions and Locations' (労働基準監督署の管轄地域と所在地) • Complete the notification with all required attachments and bring them to the counter • Office hours are generally weekdays 8:30 AM to 5:15 PM • Annual labor insurance renewal payments can also be made at financial institution counters • Bring a copy of the filing if you need a receipt
