Representative Director

Definition

A Representative Director (Daihyō Torishimariyaku) is the director who legally represents the company externally. Selected from among the directors. A KK with a board of directors must appoint at least one representative director. This person signs contracts, appears in legal proceedings, and their name appears on the company register. Equivalent to "CEO" in common usage.

Examples

代表取締役が会社を代表して契約を締結します。

The representative director (代表取締役) signs contracts on behalf of the company.
