Income Tax Act

Definition

The Income Tax Act (Shotoku-zei-hō) prescribes the tax base, rates, and filing/payment procedures for income tax on individual income. It defines 10 categories of income including employment, business, and real estate income. It is also the legal basis for the withholding tax system.

Examples

所得税法に基づき、給与から毎月源泉徴収が行われます。

Under the Income Tax Act (所得税法), withholding tax is deducted from salary every month.
