Seal Certificate / Certificate of Registered Seal

Definition

A Seal Certificate (Inkan Shōmeisho) is an official certificate proving that a seal is the registered seal of a person or company. For companies, issued by the Legal Affairs Bureau (法務局). For individuals, issued by the municipality. Required for company registration, real estate transactions, and major contracts. Obtained using a seal registration card (印鑑カード).
